One Texas State.     One Platform.     Endless Possibilities.

Workday@TXST is a university-wide transformation of how Texas State operates—modernizing Human Resources, Finance, and Student Services through a unified enterprise platform.

Our Guiding Philosophy

Lasting transformation occurs when people, processes, data, and technology work together toward a shared vision. Workday@TXST will align all four to help Texas State work smarter, serve better, and innovate for the future.

Our Guiding Principles

These values establish the philosophy that guides every decision throughout the Workday@TXST program.

People First
We will support faculty, staff, and students by implementing intuitive, accessible, and easy-to-navigate experiences. Standard Workday-delivered capabilities and proven industry best practices will create a foundation that enables our community to work more effectively, efficiently, and confidently.
One University, One Platform
Workday@TXST will support a cohesive enterprise experience that connects the university while respecting essential business, regulatory, and operational needs.
Simplicity and Best Practice
We will embrace transformative change by adopting Workday-delivered capabilities and higher-education best practices to standardize processes, connect systems, protect data, and improve the experience of those we serve. We will seek to eliminate as much redundancy and unnecessary red tape as possible across all processes.
Responsible Innovation
We will embrace automation and embedded AI to drive transformation, simplify work, and enable best-practice operations, while human oversight focuses on exercising judgment, validating outcomes, managing risk, and ensuring trust.
Sustainable Stewardship
We will build a secure, scalable, and maintainable platform that minimizes unnecessary customization and evolves with Texas State.

Strategic Design Priorities

The Guiding Principles define how Workday@TXST will be approached. These objectives define the operational outcomes the program is designed to achieve.

Protect Data, Enable Appropriate Access
Use role-based security that safeguards institutional data while giving people the access needed to perform their duties.
Deliver Efficient, Transparent Service
Simplify workflows with streamlined approvals, digital automation, notifications, and real-time status visibility.
Provide Trusted, Actionable Insight

Success Means Transformation

The success of Workday@TXST will not be measured by implementing new software, it will be measured by how the university transforms the way it operates.

A successful implementation will:

  • Deliver Workday on schedule and within budget.
  •  Provide a seamless transition from current systems to Workday.
  •  Maintain uninterrupted operations for payroll, hiring, and accounts payable and receivable.
  • Simplify business processes and reduce administrative overhead.
  • Empower faculty, staff, and students with intuitive self-service experiences.
  • Provide trusted data to improve decision-making.
  • Strengthen security, compliance, and institutional stewardship.
  • Increase operational efficiency through automation and responsible use of AI.
  • Create a sustainable technology foundation that adapts to evolving Institutional needs.

Workday@TXST is an investment in Texas State's future—a modern, resilient, service-oriented foundation that advances the university's mission for generations to come.

Texas State University is embarking on a mission to replace our aging Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. While our current infrastructure has served us for years, the landscape of higher education and the technology that supports it has shifted dramatically.

To continue our trajectory as a Tier One research institution, we need a digital foundation as innovative and resilient as our Bobcat community.

The Need for Change

Our transition to a new ERP is driven by three primary catalysts:

  • Agility & Scalability: Our legacy systems are increasingly fragmented, making it difficult to adapt to new academic models or rapid institutional growth. A modern, cloud-based ERP will allow us to scale seamlessly.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Currently, data is often trapped in silos. We are moving toward a unified single source of truth, providing real-time analytics to help leadership make informed, strategic choices.
  • The User Experience: Students, faculty, and staff deserve intuitive, mobile-friendly interfaces. Our goal is to reduce administrative friction—less time spent on manual workflows means more time focused on student success and research.
